Potholes, hedge-cuttings, dogs and other horrors
 

We've all been there - on the way back home, say after a 70-miler, only to end up being cornered by a fierce hound from hell! I know I have and I've lived to tell the tale of the thing hanging to my thigh for a fair few yards :twitchy:

Dogs can really pose a hazard to cyclists (to all road-users in fact!) I have had dogs jump up at the car where I have been so glad I was in a car! Dogs just left abandoned, dogs claiming the road as their territory and defending it(!), packs of dogs in the road :eek: etc etc. And the owners that just laugh it off "Oh he won't hurt you!" :notamused: I love dogs and have petted a few; but you don't know a dog until you've stared one in the eyes as an intruder into their territory by bike...and neither do their owners apparently!!

Potholes can also do a number on your tyres, your wheels and can turn a pleasurable bike ride into a ride from hell, especially when it is hammering it down with rain and the mud is flowing down the road like a fast-flowing river!!

And then comes the army of tractors with their hedge-cutters to create hostile-territory for your beautiful wonderful tyres!! :mad:

We've all been there - facing obstacles on our bike rides facing all sorts of weather conditions and hostilities. And we want to hear about them! Tell us about your cycling scares and adventures...Whether you were chased by hounds from hell (and survived to tell the tale!) or had a close-encounter with a wild road-beast known only as the dreaded "Pothole!" - we want to hear it! Let it be known...let us all hear the horrors and misadventures that you have had while out on your bike...better out than in!

I once was too busy looking at my gps and went into a deep pothole and fell (to the right) onto a big range rover. Thankfully it was a nice driver and actually sympathised with me and told me how crap the roads are in the UK.
