Bike stuff at Lidl this Monday
Ok, not high zoot stuff, but I've bought various bits there in previous years, and found them quite good. Base layers, shorts, trousers, jerseys and jackets are all likely to be fairly good, and at £4, I'm going to try an insulated handlebar bag too. Lights and saddles are likely to be crap, but overall, well worth a look.

nice - please post some pictures and a review, especially of the base layers and jackets.
...rumour has it Lidl's padded cycle shorts double as sandpaper? |
I have padded bike undershorts from them, from last years deal, and they're fine. Don't get me wrong; they're not Assos, but they cost me about £2 a pair, they keep the old junk compressed up out of the way, and reduce chafing. I'll happily post a review, but by the time I do, they'll all be sold. Aldi is worth watching for this, too, I have several long sleeve jerseys I bought there in the autumn which are really good.
Last year, the Lidl cycling thing included a really good toolkit (pedal spanner, cone spanners, chain whip, crank puller, chain tool, headset wrench, pin spanner, lockring tool, and lots of other stuff), and quite reasonable briefcase panniers. |
cool - thanks - I'm fully stocked up on cycling gear now but it's always good to know for the future

Thanks
Had a browse around the lidl site, and have a shopping list to fulfill on my way to work tomorrow. Any reason not to get the helmet? I'm assuming that it must meet minimum safety standards, and as I am only riding about 9 miles a day, it won't be too uncomfortable. [My old one took a fall (on it's own) on friday, and the shell chipped, and then I checked and the manufacture date is 2000, so it's probably time to retire it.] |
I noticed Lidle have a wireless computer with 32 functions and heart rate monitor for £12. is this any good?

They have more stuff there starting today. I've picked up a cycle workstand for £29.99 There are other items too (see lidl.co.uk to check)
Disclaimer: Lidl are nothing to do with me, and I can't comment on the quality of their stuff compared with other stores. I just reckon the stand'll save my back, and keep the saddle cleaner than balancing it on the ground. |
Thx for the tip off, picked up 2 bike toolkits with their own saddlebags for less than a tenner, saves me having to remember to switch my toolkit between bikes :)
