My bike- pulling Trail-a-bike- pulling a BOB?

If I could mechanically attach my BOB to a trail-a-bike, would this arrangement be feasible? Hard to balance? I've read of families on cross-country tours riding a tandem, pulling a trail-a-bike, while pulling a two-wheeled kiddie trailer, but would a BOB be too unstable?

Thoughts on this?

Try it and see?

Every time I think I have seen every conceivable combination, I see something new...

No clue... I saw this on a blog and the question about hooking multiple trailers/trail a bikes together made me think of it.

I have seen a tandem with a trail a bike and a trailer on several occasions. But the trailer was the two wheeled Burley, not a single wheel Bob style. IIRC it was in the Midwest somewhere, Iowa City?

There was another guy I used to see pretty regular in IC that had 3 trailers hitched together behind an old MTB, I suspect he was homeless by what he was hauling. He was making the rounds of the trash cans on the UofI campus collecting cans and bottles for the deposits. I never got a chance to talk to him or see his rig up close.

See this book cover , NB the trailer in the back was not a 1 wheel BoB.

Momentum Is Your Friend | Joe Kurmaskie The Metal Cowboy

You are relying on the seat post hitch to deal with the leverage forces of more than the Trail a bike's 1 wheel adding a second wheel

wont reduce, but Increase that.

adding a 2 wheel trailer wont be as additive of twisting forces..

I found this one...

So I would say there is a possibility it might work.

Yeah, I get that. What I want to do is pull the trail-a-bike and pull the BOB behind that. People have ridden tandems and towed and trail-a-bike, with a two wheeled kiddie trailer with no problem.

You May find the Adams trail-a-bike hitch inadequate and want to hire a custom fabricated heavy duty one.

Good Luck getting all that stopped with only the Bike's Brakes ..

Trust me... just stopping the BOB going downhill in the rain is an adventure. Point well taken!

F-A-B . . !

Love the "Road Train" sign, too. For those who don't know Road Trains are used in places like Australia, and are a truck towing several trailers (combination length up to 175 feet in some places). I dunno if they still do, but in Australia a road train used to have it right of way over all other traffic, because it could take half a mile or more to stop from highway speeds.

Update.... I didn't give up on this project. I was waiting until after the holidays to give this a whirl. Gotta order nubbins for the trail-a-bike first.

In the city this afternoon I saw a mother on an average none-descript MTB BSO, with her 5-6 year old son on a trail bike towing a single wheel trailer filled with groceries. They were pedalling along at about 15MPH on one of the flatter bits of the city and everything looked good and stable as they passed me waiting to cross one of the pedestrian crossings.

Thoughts on this?

I ride to the grocery store on a setup similar to what you describe. Works fine. Not hard to balance. Maneuverability in parking lots or when parking the bike to shop is a little bit of a hassle but not too bad.

Late 90's steel Spec Hardrock MTB, traily bike thing, Burley Nomad.

Personally, I prefer the two wheel style of the Nomad to the single wheel Bob style trailers. This applies especially in a case like this, where you're making the trailer the third element, and the second element is connected to the first via seatpost, i.e. up high. The Nomad exerts little to no twisting force on the trail a bike.
