My neighbour routinely takes her tiny dog for 'excercise' in the front basket of her bike. The dog definitely enjoys the ride.

It's 90% off-topic, but since we are talkinga bout hte benefits of small animals...
....if they weren't known for freaking out at being around humans and dying, i would have loved to have a Tarsier as a pet....world's smallest primate....those things are sooo cool.

We bought a used Burley Tot trailer, and we've been taking our dog in it. We're trying to get her accustomed to it, so she can go on a tour with my wife and I this summer.

The dog was very well-trained & their "mum" was a unique lady (she once turned up to breakfast in a fur coat!)
