Moving Rig, Beta Test

I've commenced movin' totes this weekend. I'm using a flatbed made out of a kid trailer. I simply removed everything but the base and added a board across the middle. It holds together well, but isn't much fun uphill. I've gotten it up to 200 lbs so far with four totes. One of the tricks is not to bungee the totes too hard or the pressure of the bungees will squish them down on either side of the support board. They really don't need a tight bungee anyway. A loose one is more than enough to keep them on board. I've noticed it's best if you bungee them all to each other so they function as a single large box. That way they're too heavy to hop out.

You've got yourself a very useful looking setup there :D

Good luck with the move.

Five trips so far. It's looking good, though it could use some more support structure for the totes. This is the ultimate el cheapo rig of course, but has the advantage of being extremely easy to whip up out of an old kid carrier, a board and some tape.

what is it that you're moving? (i.e., what's a tote?)

I wish I could do something like that. I'm moving relatively soon, but I'm not sure if a bike trailer is too practical in NYC!

Big plastic box with a lid. Rubbermaid makes some good ones.
