Wanted to see if anyone had done this esp. a home-rigged mod. I recently rode a bike with a frame basket attachment and the handling was great.

But of course, por supuesto, mais oui, it is the only way to go: Baskets on the bars are good for up to maybe 8 lbs of stuff, and I always want to have the option fo more than that. I got spoiled riding an original SchwinCycle Truck, with an even bigger basket, and just had to do a more modren version. The framework under the basket on this one is tough enough to take on most cars, and will act as a forward crash bar when losing traction sideways. I love it.

From a design by Alex Wilson of Chicago:

Plenty of weight in the back improves handling even further when the weight gets over 40 pounds or so.

Not a basket, but I have attached a front rack to the frame. I like the handling much better than a handlebar or fork attachment, although I would not recommend frame attachments with bamboo.

I've got an Arpan Low Gravity bike, which is basically the Raleigh equivalent of the Cycle Truck. The basket on it is not real stable side to side, and you can get some wobble with heavier loads (come to think of it, I guess I could stiffent that up pretty readily).
Worksman makes a Low Gravity bike as well.

Small turns back and forth create what feels like a wobble.
For some reason, I subconsciously tend to forget this. Every time I really load my bike and put maybe 40 or 50 pounds in the front, I get what feels like a wobble. And since I am carrying increased weight (often another 40 or 50 in the rear as well) I am slow to start and I make small rapid turns until I get going.
This makes me worry, but then I try some large sweeping turns and realize that it's not really a wobble I'm feeling, but the fact that the increased weight wants to keep moving in a straight line forward while I am turning the wheel.
