when it comes to saving money
in our cultures we are primarily automobile-centric societies
therefore... typically, the bicycle (hopefully a primary means of transpo) becomes "the Reducing Valve" (as Huxley had coined the phrase)

living a life with the Bottom Bracket as the center of the universe, is vastly cheaper than the gas pedal.
