2010 Xtracycle Freeloaders & Flight Deck...

I bought one of the first Surly Big Dummy frames that was made and very happy I did. Over the years I have done a lot of cargo rides, bike tours and as well as lots of regular bike riding because she is an uber fun bike. I had to admit she was starting to look a bit ragged in the rear end...having torn and worn holes in my old Xtracycle Freeloaders as well as gouging.chipping away at my Snap Deck.

Well I finally ponied up for some new clothes for the old girl. I put the new 2010 Freeloaders and Flight Deck on her. I also decided to address her general neglect by wrapping her bars and replacing the kickstand I took off when I tried out an Xtracycle Kick Back centrestand.

The final touch was adding a locking skewer to the Rohloff IGH so I didn't have to run an extra cable through the rear wheel when locking the bike. I also added a locking seatpost clamp to safeguard my Brooks saddle, but I need to still add a short wire cable to finish that job off.

Front rack (mine is the Surly Nice Rack)
fenders (mine are VO stainless steel)
frame bag (same, thanks for the link to the maker)
freeloaders & deck (same)

Saddle & bars are different and I have just added dynamo lighting to mine but our setups of the Big Dummy are very similar. I am primarily jealous of your Rohloff hub.

I added some locking wheel/seatpost skewers to my Big Dummy. Since I can't use them on my front wheel due to the OMM rack I have on the Dummy I went the cheap and cheerful hose clamp route.

What do you think about the new bags? I like them a lot, although the pocket flap is too short.

So far so good. I haven't had any issues yet. It will take me a few months and some really wet riding to come to a firm conclusion. At this point the only thing I would like to see different is the colour. I really liked the basic black of the old ones. I'm hoping the grey will grow on me.
