I'm really curious about this bike too, considering the entire bike is cheaper than a BD frameset and still cro-mo (fork is hi-tensile though).

I had a chance to try one today. It handled really nicely, wasn't very heavy, and shifty fairly well. I would think it would be a strong contender.

Just picked up the bike. I'll post pics / details tomorrow. $645.55 out the door. Time to start shopping xtracycle accessories.

That's a good price. Even though it's higher than we heard initially, it sounds like a breakthrough in price/features. I'm very eager to hear about it.

Not bad. I think our sales tax is something like 7.6%, and the $645 I paid includes that.

If anyone wants specific pictures, or has specific questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer / photo.

My initial impression when I walked into the shop and saw it was that it looks better than the stock photos we've seen. The bike shop staff commented that it had been a real conversation starter. They had it over along one wall with a sold tag on it, so they weren't letting people climb all over it but it was in plain view in the shop and they mentioned that a number of people had asked what it was. They had it assembled and on the floor around lunch time yesterday, and I didn't pick up until around 6:45p.

Matt

I love it. Maybe if bike shops displayed these, they would sell.

I'm going to blog the ride I took yesterday. I rode to Costco and loaded my kiddie trailer full of stuff. It was damned heavy. But with a little huffing and puffing, I made it. People in North American ought to learn that you can do useful things with bikes.

My new blog is here.

My only disappointment so far is that it has a 14mm rear axle. This means my Baby Jogger Tailwind and Burley Nomad won't work, at least until I figure something out. The stock hitches for those only support up to 10mm axles.

The xtracycle stuff would seem to fit, but the fact that the Sun has the metal deck up top instead of just the v-racks makes me wonder how to fit the peapod or flight deck.

Thanks for the update. Keep us posted on how you work out the various issues. No dedicated cargo bike here...yet.

So I ordered one at the LBS today - $600. Reading over the guy's shoulder, the wholesale cost to them looks to be $399. I'll post my thoughts/pics when it arrives.

Yeah, looking at my receipt, it was $595 plus tax. You're right on.

If anyone has specific questions, let me know. I'll do my best to answer or take a digital photo closeup of any area you're interested in. The bike isn't perfect, but it's a bargain when you look at price paid to utility ratio.

I recommend riding it unloaded or lightly loaded first, for practice.
