Golf clubs??

My father enjoys golfing, and luckily for him, there is a driving range within 4-5 miles of our house, so during the summer, he bikes there with 3 or 4 of his clubs. Currently, he is using an old child seat that is mounted by rear rack to transport these clubs, along with an extra water bottle, or sometimes beer and hot dogs for when he goes to the pool afterwards. My question is: what would be the safest way to transport his clubs, without getting a trailer or something. Frankly, he looks like an idiot moving stuff with a child seat, and I feel, if he were to turn too sharply, or fall, the clubs could fall out and get damaged, or injure him. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks...

Mount some pvc piping to the rack and stick the club handles down into those. I have see several beach cruisers carrying big surf fishing poles that way. Does he have a locker at the club, or could he get one? I worked at a country club years ago and they had lockers where you could store your clubs.

The range he goes to is attached to a golf course for alumni and employees of the university he works at, so I don't know if he could get a locker. If he could, it might cost money, and he can be a cheapo... I'll propose the PVC thing to him, which he could agree with... thanks!

What I would do, is build a rack out of some type of plywood and use u bolts to attach the PVC piping to, then have a quick release method to mount the plywood to the rack.

I tied a full-sized round garbage can to the side of my rear rack to take it 5 miles RT to the recycle drop off place. I just used a couple pieces of rope and, for ease, a couple Nite Ize firgure 9s.

I could easily tie an entire golf bag onto the side of my rear rack. This would be much simpler than making a pvc pipe/board device to carry only a handful of clubs.

Because I don't golf, this will probably never be an issue for me.
