Are there any other Trek Transport owners out there********** Here's a few shots of mine.....

How does it handle? Any issues that you have noticed? Any extras that should be picked up initially? I am really interested in that bike to take over utility duties. Of course I do not see getting one this year, but I may reward myself with one later

Handling is great. Don't load the rear rack too high. Try to keep the load low......seems to get a LITTLE froggy if you're a little top heavy.

Hmmm.....extras.....the usual.....lights, lock, that sort of thing. I put a rear fender on the first day I had mine as it doesn't come with one. If you have the extra cash change the rear brake to a disc as well. I just ordered a set for the front and rear on mine as I like to keep things the same for maintenance issues.

Bar Ends. Get a pair of them just so it's easier for you to change positions.

Also, don't plan on doing any "curb jumping". You WILL bottom out......

Anything else**********

What rear fender did you utilize?

The first mods I'm looking at when I get mine is a rear fender and a BB5 disc out back. How is the stock seat? I was thinking about moving my Brooks B17 over to that bike or getting a B67 to put on there.

Any else worth looking at getting for it right out of the box?

Stock seat is fine. No issues with it for me whatsoever. But then I have no butt to speak of...LOL If you have a Brooks and are used to that one I am sure it will work out just fine.

Rear fender that I used was a standard mountain bike 26" fender I had from a previous bike. I believe it was from Planet Bike. VERY little modifications were needed.

Disc on the rear is a good idea. I didn't put it on initially but certainly wish that I had. I just swapped mine out recently.

Another couple of items you should consider are front and rear lights. Think that goes without saying though.

And you MIGHT want to consider a set of these for side-to-side visibility...... BIKEWRAPPERS

Anything else I can help you with**********......

What website gives the specs on the transport? I went to the Trek site and it gives nothing.

Thanks.

Some of my observations
1/ I see that 20" wheels would not work for stability and strength because of where the crank resides in relation to the ground. How about 24" wheels if your using your bike on smooth roads? Overall height will be 1" lower.

2/ I'm now looking at the kickstand. I have a crazy idea of how to retrofit the kickstand from the extracycle radical on to the transport. If only it worked in reality.

3/ I'm gonna add 2 more Clevis pins since the bike comes with 2 instead of it coming with the proper 4.(it does have 4 holes) I might add the washers now before it starts to rattle.

4/ also is there anyway that a wheelie bar could be added? Actually like a drop axle out back with some kind of suspension? Or a small diameter aired wheel.

let me know what you thing good bad or otherwise.thanks......
