First Real Grocery haul today!
 

Oh sure I have stopped in and picked some stuff up every now and then. But I have always been leery of doing the whole "shopping trip" thing. Space was always my main concern. With a regular bike with regular panniers I was always afraid that I would run out of room. We buy a LOT of groceries at a time. Well, I had my new (to me) Miniute siting in the driveway so I figured, "WHy not". I bought it to transport my kid to school over roads that I find too unsafe for trailers and such but it IS a cargo bike, so off I went.

I learned a few things, for sure. Like, back racks don't work and you really can't fit that many groceries in those big Kona bags.

Any way, it's just a grocery run. Not in the least "epic" but it was a pretty big deal to me, Her's the bike loaded down:

I have a Big Dummy and I'm always trying to push the limit whether it be groceries, Good Will or Home Depot runs, etc. I typically have about 90 lbs. of groceries each week but it's really fun when I bring my son along in his trailer. Get some good insulated, grocery bags - the best that I've found are from Trader Joe's; not only do they keep the food cold but it's A LOT easier loading and unloading.

Cool! I've been doing it for a couple of years now. You have to be VERY careful about the bulk of what you're buying. You might want to use one of the little baskets you carry at the store and not a cart. That makes it easier to judge how much you have.

Congratulations you may not think it's a big deal but I sure do. I recently started doing this again since a new store moved about a mile from my house, I had forgotton how much fun it is. There are only 2 of us now (empty nesters) so not a huge volume of groceries to buy. Again congrats it is quite a bit more challenging for a family.

I am still looking forward to a grocery run on one of my bikes. Thinking the box store bike rear triangle is going to get put to use soon so I can get an xtracycle up and riding. Most stores I shop at are only 5 miles each way. If I get my trailer or xtra built soon the car will be used a lot less.

You are way more ambitious (or brave) than I am!

My guess is his section of Catalunya is no more flat than the surrounding areas either. I visited the church on nearby Tibidabo a decade back or so. Wish I had more time to spend in Catalunya.

Congrats on the grocery run though Mr Grumpy. That's a fun little victory.
