Another old Worksman Trike

Hi,

I was always interested in trikes and found an old Worksman Trike. It appears to be solidly built,

It is pretty rough so it is a project. The previous owner had no idea about year and model.

It has 24 inch wheels with 24x2.125 size tires. The front has a drum brake (which is dragging now).

The rear has a Shimano 3-speed coaster brake hub.

I plan to strip it down and then rebuild.

Here is a pic. Any idea about the year and model? It does look like one of the current Industrial models.

Thanks,

unfortunately I cannot read the serial number as the trike was partially re-painted in the bottom bracket area. I started cleaning and lubing it and know it is an old version of the current "Adaptable Industrial Tricycle ADP-3CB". It has a Shimano 3CC hub which works beautifully. The wheels are very strong with 11g spokes and look like motorcycle wheels.

I got the front drum brake to work. It might still need some adjustment or it just has a different feel than rim brakes. This is my first experience with drum brakes.

The front wheel is actually a 26". It rides well now but I will be greasing all the bearings in the next a few days.

Yes it is solidly built... it is a Worksman. Email them with the serial number. Depending on which Shimano 3 speed would lead me to believe mid to late 1990 model.

Aaron: The hub us a 3CC that uses a full cable housing all the way from the shifter to the bell housing. I have a bike with the same setup and I think it was called positron?

Yes, I still have it.

I stripped down and fully serviced it and put three new tires on. I ride it frequently.

Excellent! I have rode mine every day since I got it a month ago. Sometimes up to 7 miles in a day, which is a lot for me, especially with a load on the end of the "loop". I love mine, although it is the 1 speed version. I've gotten the pdf manual from the Worksman site and am going to convert mine to 3 speed when able. Yours is very nice. Good luck with her.

Good luck on your conversion project.

I have made some changes when I re-conditioned her. I changed out that very strong but heavy metal basket to a (still strong) plastic one. I also installed a foldable bike hanger so I put more stuff on that. Here is a latest pic.

I think if I worked in a large factory I would spend too much time zooming around on one of those, and not enough time working.
