Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Hi Eli,

That hill is in NW Illinois, roughly 40 mi due east of Galena and 15 mi NW of Freeport. There are 3 or 4 hills like that in as many miles.

The photo is looking east from mile 3.2 of this route. http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...ernate-Routing

My wife and I thought we were out of the hills when we started that leg of our trip last year.

We have a bike lane as big as the one diane posted. It is a bike lane, not a shoulder (ours I mean) even though it looks exactly the same. 1.5 m is designated bike lane, the rest, shoulder. Things are not always as they seem.....
