A call for civility

I know, to some of you that sounds funny coming from me. But The VC subforum is for VC discussions, not just another place to argue. So let's get back on track, and back on topic. And to those of you that post here just to get other members riled up, please don't.

Thanks,

Brian

Actually, the VC forum has really been quite civil when compared to some knock down dragout forums I've been involved with in the past. Comparing this forum to others I've been on, is like comparing a lit matchstick to a jet afterburner.

Hmmmm, there are a few combustible personalities here. Do we really expect to hold everyone up to higher standards?

And yet the anti-VC rolls on.

Freaks of the VC Label

I actually enjoyed the Theodore Suess Geisel imitation.

It's a weakness...

Again, the VC forum, IMO, is fairly civil. Just about the worst one can expect is a long winded intellectual highbrow beating, and nowhere close to resembling some other forums I've been involved in, with their unmoderated taunts, slurs and slander that was being spewed out on a daily basis.

It's amazing how brave people tend to get when they're hiding behind a modem.

But I have to say, I really appreciate the job the moderators do here, it is a relatively civil place. Brian's call for civility is in that vein, and worth supporting.

awww but without the advocacy forum and its sub forums where would people go to prove they are smarter than everybody else buy broken record repeating the same opinions over and over again. without being able to come here and fight you might actually force some people to go ride a bicycle.

I think your just asking too much from these people

You might have noticed our lowered expectations, Tony.

Some people just can't handle the heat I guess.

Personally, I find this forum mostly civil, if a little intense, but also think a little incivility (within reason) keeps it interesting. It's all good fun, really.

Obviously not everyone can attain the level of wisdom you have. Who are you again? I don't recall any of your contributions off the top of my head.

I imagine that's probably because the thing that he normally contributes to is the real world, by being out there in it instead of here.

oh yeah sorry about the whole having a life, job, relationship and real friends thing.

sorry I spend more time actually doing things I care about more than spending time talking about it online. IE: cycling, painting, drawing.

I guess after all that I just don't have the time to get on here and post 24/7 to try to impress people I have never met and will likely never meet.

but by all means keep your title of "king of the internet/bicycling forums" cause I've got stuff to do in the real world

By reading (and replying to!) any thread in this subforum, you've basically shot yourself in the foot if you are claiming you've got so much to do in the real world. Just my $0.02. I post a lot here
