A Special Mass Ride Tomorrow...
Being that tomorrow is the last Friday of the month a great number of us will gather at city hall to ride on a very special Critical Mass...
The ride has been dedicated to the memory of one our smallest riders, Owen Richel.
His young life was cut short by Leukemia and I and my daughters will be riding with many others in his memory.
This short video about Owen is very touching... he inspired many people here with his heart and bravery he showed in how he faced what was a terminal illness.

The ride was, for the most part pretty awesome save for one irate cager who ran over the back wheel of one of our riders who was riding shotgun to protect my little sister and her kids who were riding in the trailer.
We had the police come by (on bikes no less) after the ride as they had received a few complaints from cagers but they said screw that when they discovered one of our own was in an altercation... charges will be laid against the driver and no-one was injured.
My daughters had a blast and got to rode with 160 other cyclists across the city and I had just as much watching them on the ride.

Yeah that sure was pretty awesome. I left work at Nisku at 4pm and made it downtown in roughly an hour (good wind conditions). Stopped off and grabbed some supper and some drinks then made my way down to city hall.
I was very impressed by the turn out. It seems the only people i talked to were first timers as well. I have to say that was a completely surrel experience riding in a huge group and taking the whole road. I was pretty shocked when we took all of Calgary trail. I guess a certain irate cager was too. All in all a very good very "empowering" experience.
I'll try to make some more but this one kinda happened to be a "perfect storm" of conditions that allowed me to go. Not the least of which is my tendancy to be out of town for the last few.
Thanks for the posts and updates 65er
