I was thinking the same thing. 10/10 for the idea, minus several million for the timing

Last week I had a look at the bikes that are on display here in Winnipeg. Nice looking stuff. The Col intrigues me. I recommend that people at least stop by their local MEC and take a look.

Our MEC will not be carrying bicycles due to their status as a B store...

Our local bike shops will be about this for sure... especially the bike shop a mere block down the street.

didn't really care for their selection of bikes here in Winnipeg, seems just like another bike shop. I was hoping their bikes would be more commuter/utility centered.

Here's a comparison of the MEC Col with a few "comparable" Trek and Specialized models at a LBS. I'm not sure but I think the Col beats out the compared bikes on bang for your buck. Lots of 105 or better in the Col.

I think I read somewhere that MEC bikes are made by Giant. Then again these days, most bike frames are sourced from Giant anyway.
