Overpants

There use to to be a product called, "Overpants." They were worn in very cold weather over your pants. They had long zippers along the side to get your boots off quickly. Anyone know if such a thing still exists or not?

Snow pants/ski pants/snowboard pants? - every sporting goods shop, ski shop and possibly even mass merchandisers have them. For a good selection check out REI, BackCountry.com, even Amazon.

maybe these?

EMS Men's Thunderhead Full-Zip Pants Free Shipping on orders over $49!

a long time ago my Dad got me a pair of EMS goretex rain pants they were really expensive but are really well made. I used them bike commuting one year. the other day I was comparing all my rain pants and wound up going with something cheaper & lighter cuz I was already wearing fairly thick REI fleece tights + novara headwind cycling pants. the wide legged, lightweight rain pants fit over my shoes but could use a strap for the ankles. our local outdoor store sells 3 levels of price/quality rain suits (top & bottom)

just found these w gore tex but they only have ankle zips
MARMOT Men's Minimalist Gore-Tex Pants Free Shipping on orders over $49!

these look like the real deal & the ad says lightweight. maybe the closest to what my Dad had bought me but better? (& $150 cheaper!)
EMS Men's Deluge Rain Pants Free Shipping on orders over $49!

I have a pair Wind blocking Shell Fleece lined Trousers* , but On Bike tours, for versatility,
I combined my rain gear shell pants, and Fleece long johns over my bike shorts ..

Mine* were a Lucky find, years ago.

Colorado should have plenty of stuff for the Ski Crowd.. No brands to Tout, Happy shopping!

at 16 degrees, thought I would try my snow pants Saturday. used some thin fleece tights & DIY knee warmers too. left the reflective tape on the snow pants. left over artifact from the only winter I bike commuted. felt a little silly with the tape in broad daylight. but the snow pants were perfect

I have two pair, a tight fitting one (only ankle zipper) that has a vinyl cover on the front to help block the wind that I wear on road bike rides and sometimes when Mtb riding.
Then a looser pair (full side zipper) that I wear mostly for cross country skiing but mtb riding too. They are bib type and very warm but lightweight.
Similar to the ones that rumrunn6 linked and posted pics of. The bib ones are so warm that it almost has to be below 10* to wear, yet they only weight about 2 pounds. The lightweight ones usually are good enough, considering the calories you are burning during a workout.
A thin skull cap helps the most in keeping warm.

I scored a really nice pair at the Sally about a month ago, for $10. They look like army surplus, being that peculiar light green, but they're not. I found a company label recently where I didn't expect it. I forget that name now, lol, but they're filled with Prima-loft, and they work great. About on par with my down jacket. Should be excellent to sleep in, while bike touring. Or just normal wearing on colder days, when you're not riding to stay warm. That EMS is a good company, been around quite awhile. 🙂

Ha, got a little sidetracked, but looked these up eventually. They were made for the military, by a company called Wild Things. I have the Gen III Level VII overpants, quite a deal for $10. 😉 www.wildthingsgear.com

Just wear full length bibs. Less cumbersome.
