    Taiga Cycle Jacket

    http://www.taigaworks.ca/cycle/

Anyone try one of these ? The whole back is a vent, and is able to roll up if the rain stops, or just leave closed but unzipped if raining.

Add in the cuffs that can be opened enough for air flow, mesh pockets to let in air, large pit zips, and an opened back, it might actually be a goretex jacket with enough ventalation to be usuable on a bike.

I'm looking for a good jacket/shell for pacific northwest winter commute. Hour commute each way, pouring rain. Mec's woosh jacket would be the other choice im looking at. #rd choice would be Sugoi's defiant jacket which is a tight fitting stretch version.

To quote from a non-local retailer's web page
"Living in the NorthWET, we use raingear for (too) much of the year.
We know what works and what doesn't, and Burley raingear works."
This year's version of the Burley rain jacket which I own is made from a light-weight, waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabric called Gelanots®. Doubters can check out the spelling of that name on Burley's own web page

I recommend the Yellow/Black style for maximum conspicuity, which happens to be the only style available if you get the men's size XXL. The "all Black" version must be intended for stealthy Law Enforcement operation at night (or riding on snow

Burley isnt sold here that i can find.

    I have mec with this http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp;jsessionid=DllB8LYVFS9nlTZgZjLGsk8Gqkbdhk3crGQLRjGfDsWynKymmLLC!-2115195031?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302692343&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442617571&bmUID=11265406 74067

Or Tiaga , the one i linked above

    Or Sugoi http://www.sugoi.ca/consumer/product...6931&color=COS

Those are the 3 i have available at stores near me. All the suggestions of stuff sold in the states is great...if you live in the states. We get some of the brands here but not many, thats why im asking about these particular brands, which i can buy.

The sugoi is an extremely light, thin shell. It will fit in a jersey pocket, and i honestly have doubts it can actually keep water off in rain. Not a shower, but good west coast rain. Its a snug fit, no excess coat flapping anywhere. It it works it will be awesome.

The mec jacket is not bad, its an entrant fabric and is the typical bulkier style coat. What it lacks would be ventalation.

The taiga is the bulkiest, stiffest, but also the most water resistant and with the most ventalation.

I guess my decision is do i want the bulky jacket capable of keepign me dry in a downpour and with enough vents to not drown me in sweat. Or do i go for the high tech, slick, tight fitting jacket that claims i wont sweat to death and claims to be waterproof.

Heh, darn decisions, if they were 50 bucks id buy both.

FYI: I couldn't find the Burley jacket locally either, so I bought it (and a helmet cover) by mail from Lickton's Supply in Illinois (a distance of more than 800 miles from where I live). BTW, Lickton's accepts International Orders

Disclaimer: I'm just a satisfied customer and have no other association with Lickton's or Burley.
