Been a commuter for years and collected several lighting systems. They still all work, but I use one battery system and it has died. I think this is the third or forth I've worn out so it can't get me to work and back with some margin for errands. I've bought used, I've had Battery's Plus build one, I built my own, and wondering what I should do this time.

Which has a nice replacement, actually an upgrade because I've been using NiCd. Includes a charger, even smart it says. Seems reasonably priced and lighter than the 10 cell NcCd I've been using.

Anyone have experience with batteryspace.com? Care to comment?

I bough a battery and a smart (constant voltage) charger from my local electronics store, wired up the battery and fitted it into anold waterbottle.
The charger was better quality than the ones in lighting systems

I bought a light and other things from Battery Space. Excellent service. Really like the light. It is a NICAD 5 and 15 watt. Long run time. A little heavy but will take that for the extra run time. Really like the smart charger since there is nothing to worry about in over charging.

Thanks Michael, but here in the US, I doubt that you would have much success. We cyclist are a minority and I think most Radio Shack employees would great you with stunned surprise and be of little help. It is possible that some of the shops that specialize in radio control cars or other toys that use rechargable battery packs might be more help.

Thanks Gary. I saw their lights and they too look good. Someone else on this forum posted a link to a system that looked rather nice for about $100 US. It too looked good, but their replacement water bottle batteries didn't include the recharger like this.

The ones on BatterySpace are similar to those sold by LazerEdge (www.bicyclelights.com). Fact is, I think LaserEdge is supplying them with the lights. I'm using a dual handlebar and dual helmet system at this point, with another single helmet system stashed at work for emergencies.

I've been charging my bottle battery (NiMH) almost weekly using the dumb charger and a simple timer. Still getting the advertised run time.
