Winter Tights versus Bib Tights
I've tried searching and reading all the old posts and i couldn't find what i was looking for, but i might have missed it...
It's too cold to only wear shorts, so i'm going to invest in some tights. I'm wondering if anyone just uses running tights or something and just puts them over your bibs. It just seems more practical to have tights and bibs on, that way i don't need to wash my tights as often.
Does anyone wear tights over their bibs? or does everyone have bib tights w/ chamios?

I have different types for different temperatures but the most flexible and warm system is to wear a very stretchy warm tight over your shorts or bibs. The extra layer on the pelvis and thighs makes a big difference. Of course there are some tights with a chamios and they are good for cool weather but they don't really work as well as the combination of short and tight together.
However, A single tight with a chamios can be effective for the right temperature but the combination has the benefit of being able to take off the tights if the weather warms up which in the spring and fall it can do. It could be 40 F when you go out and be 60 F two hours later in late Sept. or early Oct.

I wear polypro tights over my favorite bibs when the weather turns chilly. I have a some bib tights with chamois (mid-range Performance brand) but rarely use them. I might pick up some PI AmFib bibs this winter.
These tights are also as my base layer for snowboarding, used as running tights and just staying warm in the winter. Definitely more versatile than having dedicated cycling tights w/ a chamois.

Is it a no-no to wear tights under your bibs? At least then you don't have to keep pulling up your tights every 10 minutes. Lycra tights on lycra bibs = falling tights.

The BS about #2 in bibs is a load. Pardon the pun.
I wear bibs and do not have an issue. So what if I have to take off my jersey.
#1 is even easier. Lycra stretches downward quite well.
I also wear tights over my bibs and have not had a single issue with my tights readjusting themselves downward. In fact, I use cheap performance tights over my voler bibs.
The fit advantages of bibs trumphs these supposed negatives by far.

It has to be very cold for me to put on tights. I have Knickerbibs- the ones that are a thicker material and cover the knees for most of my winter riding. However- if it is cold and wet I uses Bib tights over my normal bib shorts. And My tights do not have a chamois in them as I already have that in the shorts.

I find it more comfortable to wear tights under the bib shorts.
