Anyone have this? Reviews?

I'm looking for a nice jacket to keep me toast, but also one that I wont melt inside. From what I've read this jacket seems nice, but I'm not sure as to how breathable it is.

Any suggestions to similar jackets would be nice.. I've done a few searches on here.

I have a Gore Bike Wear Yellow Jacket with removable sleeves. It is great for my situation. I live about a 5 minute commute from work in Columbus, GA which has a downtown flat as a pancake. I don't think it is this jacket though because I only paid about $90 for mine (discounted from something like $150). It is very breathable.

I don't have that model, but I do own a Gore winter jacket. It's worked very well for me over the last 3-4 years. They seem to make a great jacket. I love the arm pit zippers!

I picked up a Gore Finish Line from Performance when they put it on sale. I should have paid closer attention to one of the posts made about the Gore stuff fitting tight across the chest. A medium works for me in just about any make of jersey or jacket. With Gore it was really tight and bunched up under the arms.

I returned it for a large, which I have been commuting and riding with over the last month. Now it doesn't fit ast tight across the chest, but the cut to the waist is not as aero as I would like. Overall, I am pleased enough to keep it. The pit zips definitely make the difference though. This Gore fabric does not breathe nearly as well as I would like, which several posters pointed out. So on anything but a short ride, my arms tend to get pretty damp. The pit zips help but only on regulating my torso temps. It definitely is good at wind blocking and keeping the damp out though, which made my rides in the wet last week a lot more bearable. I ended up having to be content with that, and wet arms. I'm glad that I got the jacket at a close-out, Performance Club member price.

A PI Barrier jacket by comparison has its wind blocking material up front but also is designed to vent to its rear. I find that moisture doesn't build up at all, unless I give it no choice by wearing too much to begin with. The cut is very aero and rest of its features are top notch. The fabric on it is more comfortable and moveable too. If it had pit zips, I would call it perfection.

I'm a little late to this thread, but my advice would be to get the Tool jacket. I have used mine for a full year and I have used it spring, fall, and winter. It was great in a cool spring rainy century ride and I have used it all winter with various layers underneath. Zip pits are nice, Windstopper fabric is very effective, and the jacket fits very comfortable - good length in back. I have the somewhat matching bibs and love them also. Very nicely made gear - a good value at the sale price.

I have a Large - I usually wear either Med or Large - I figured with an extra layer in winter to go up. It is a fairly trim cut to the jacket, not tight in the shoulders, but maybe a bit in the midsection. I don't notice it because it has some stretch to it.

Does anyone know where to find a medium in black? Other than Performance?

Oh, and does anyone know if the back of the yellow jacket is yellow, or black?

I would definitely think about having a jacket for riding when it isn't raining and one for when it is. The nature of the Gore-tex beast is that it breathes, but never as well as something that's not waterproof. I only wear my Gore-tex when I know I'm going to get wet.

on mine - the back of the jacket is yellow - only the top of the sleeves/shoulder/neck
is black.

a good point - I normally don't ride in hard rain - I wore my Tool jacket last summer in steady light drizzle and stayed quite dry. I don't commute so have not used it in heavy rain conditions. I was happy with how dry I was after 4 hours of drizzle - also glad to have a clip on rear fender, rain booties, helmet cover etc. though. I may be wrong, but I thought the Tool jacket was Windstopper fabric, not GoreTex. It is water resistant, but not like GoreTex fabric....?

I have an old (at least10 years old) 3 layer goretex jacket. It is fully waterproof- even in 7 hours of horizontal rain-fully windproof and the only fault I have about it is that it is not a Warm jacket. You do need a light fleece or other layers in cold weather. It washes up well- and has never needed reproofing. In the summer I use it on the cooler days and if it does get too warm- I can unzipp or take it off and pack it into a rucksack or pannier. Big problem with goretex is that once you have used one- You won't be happy with anything else so make certain it fits- Is in the colour you like, and buy the last jacket you will ever need.

Then again- Some people don't like Goretex- Not that I have ever met them.

Well, I finally got this dealio in a Medium, thanks to a totally rad forum member.. but now I think I need a small!!!!

I hate sizing.
