Sick of Winter
I am officially sick of winter.
Sick of the cold, the slush, the snow piles, the dark, the black ice and not being able to ride when I want.

What winter? It's been wicked cold here for the last week or two, but we haven't had any snow to speak of. I've got the Nokians on the mtb, but no frozen roads or trails. Hopefully we get a good snow before the Crocus' come up...

I'm not going to complain because i know others to the north have it worse. This has been the worst winter of my winter cycling career so far however. I'm just grateful that the roads have dried up and i don't have to ride studs every day now.

Some of the people here (where I live) keep saying that this winter is really not all that bad. If that is the case ... I'd hate to see a bad winter here!!! 
We've had blizzards, bitterly cold temps, roads so covered in snow and ice I can't ride outside at all ... I can barely drive my car!
But maybe I'm looking at it from a different perspective than the people who are saying that the winter isn't bad ...
1) My last two winters were gorgeous! Last winter (here as well) there was no snow till sometime in January, and even then not much ... and I don't recall it ever getting really cold. The worst part of last winter was the fact that we got dumped on in March ... just when I thought it was about to be spring. That was a little disheartening. The winter before I was in Queensland, Australia (40+°C) until the end of December, so I missed most of the winter. So by comparison ... this is a bad winter.
2) I think a lot of people spend their winters indoors sitting in front of the TV ... they don't have a deep burning desire to be outside riding their bicycles!! So they don't know what the winter is really like.
3) Those who do want to be outside enjoy winter sports ... so they moan and groan all summer, and are as happy as can be when the snow starts falling.
Personally ... I can hardly wait for spring!!!

Here the snow is not quite that tall, but they still struggled to keep the roads clean yesterday and today. I just don't think I can cycle in 20 cm or fresh snow. It's not going to happen.

Don't mind the cold so much except that it makes me feel like I'm riding through six inches of molasses. When 20 km/h is a struggle you know it's just too dang cold. I think next year I escape to the Caribbean for a week.

By the way, when the best you can muster is 10 Km/h, you know the snow's just too deep.
Scrap that.
When you're shoveling snow with the pedals, that's when you know the snow's too deep.

I also am sick of winter, though it hasn't been that bad here (Calgary). Only two really cold snaps and I think about three big snow falls. But... I want to ride my road bike. I want to go out far and forever where you mainly just worry about food and water!
Actually two funny things that I noticed. 1) The road biking forum got really really grumpy about November, I had to stop reading it. 2) I had this picture of Lance Armstrong on my wall that I got as a Christmas gift, and when I took it down and replaced it with a MTB calendar, my overall mental health noticably improved.
So the secret to not hating winter is not to focus on what/where/how you can't ride, but where you can!

-30C today (-42C with windchill) for my daily commute to work. I'm not sick of winter, but I'm darn glad the fresh snow we had the other day has packed down to be a road of Hardpacked ice and snow again. It makes riding in the winter much more enjoyable.
That said, I am looking forward to my weekly club rides in warm weather, though I'm not sick of winter.

No crowds??? The roads are jammed with idiots who think they can drive on 2 feet of snow over a layer of ice like they were driving on a dry road in the middle of summer. I'm terrified every time I set foot outside the house!!
