Computer Wiring harness fragile in the cold. Gah!

I've now busted two wiring harnesses for the Cateyes I have on two different bikes. On one, the plastic retaining tab on the computer mount snapped off when I got back after a ride in ~15 degree weather, and on the other bike, the rear wheel sensor for speed (Astrale) cracked off when I bumped into it while removing the back wheel to check something.

How cold does it get before this starts happening?? I didn't even think of the issue until they both got damaged within a two day window.

Have one replacement in hand (that one I've had for a couple of years), but the other one I'm tempted to write to Cateye about, as it's been on the beater for only a month or two with not that much mileage and no abuse.

I just quit using bike computers after the cables kept breaking...

....then derailleurs after they kept freezing.

....then freewheels after they started binding.

gotta love winter!

i just snapped the mount for my computer this week too. d'oh!

haven't looked at it to see if it could somehow be glued. i guess they didn't manufacture them with winter riding in mind...

i also snapped the dinger on my bell a few weeks ago.

I guess it's okay as long as you let it warm up... I had this happen with both right after I got in the front door.

Now you know why I'm skeptical of anything that isn't solid steel or brass and bolted on.
