Ha! No kidding. I'm riding a mountain bike with a decent low gear and I STILL had to walk my bike through most of Mill Creek on the way home today. The roads were OK though.

Also: spiffy bike.

I understand we got 20 plus cm of snow today and that several hundred cars found themselves in the ditch... Mill Creek is a wonderful place to ride in the winter and am hoping to get the Pug down there soon.

I've never had a chance to ride a Pugsley but I was sure wishing for one today.

Thanks Man. The ride to work was manageable. The ride home involved walking and took nearly one and a half hours. The roads were awful with the glazed-over hard packed snow and it was rutted in some sections and so. I kept the pace nice and stayed upright. My calves are still sore from the walking though.

Feel free to come and take mine for a spin any time... next week (weather permitting) I will be out at the frame shop building some custom racks for it as well as laying out the jigs so we can produce them for other Pug / Moonlander owners but will be bringing the bike back and forth with me every day.

I miss that commute through Mill Creek... there is nothing like riding through there on a winter morning and being the first person to lay down the first and sometimes the only tracks of the day.

Somebody else beat me to it this morning and I was only making the second set of tracks. Very nice, though. Even the trip home was beautiful, despite the longish stretches of walking the bike.

To my fellow Edmontonians... I have to give you props for riding in this weather as even with the Pug it quite a slog to get through all that snow.

Will be down at EBC north tomorrow if anyone wants to have an impromptu support meeting.

Had fun on the Pug today... rode to the co-op and hung out with the winter riders support group, turned some wrenches, and drank my fair share of coffee.

Pug has been amazing on the snow with 12 psi in the tyres and let Tuck take the bike for a spin...

12psi? I run that summer on trail.

Wait till you get it down into the 6-8 range on snow. Pretty crazy. Watch the sidewalks. If they chevron, or you can bottom out completely, you've gone too low.

12 psi is what I run on the trail and it was working well in the monstrous amounts of snow we have right now... bike feels a little squirmy at 8 psi and am trying to balance the pressure to give me a nice balance of speed and control.

That was a lot of fun, my first chance to ride a Pugsley and I was impressed. I had imagined them to be a lumbering sort of ride and not as lively as it was.

We got upwards of 30cm of light fluffy snow here, you could literally clear your driveway with a leaf blower. It was getting to be a bit too much for the Pugsley this afternoon. If I slid around enough that I'd have to put a foot down, it was very difficult to get started again. I think denser snow would have been easier to ride in. I can see now why the Salsa Mukluks have Surly Nate tires front and rear, the Larry slides sideways too much.

Riding on the streets wasn't too bad, but I don't really trust drivers after the first major snowfall. And you have to contend with the jerks that push all their snow out into the middle of the road.
