Windproof Thermal Bib Tights?
 

I'm looking for some windproof thermal bib tights for the 20~40 degree range, hopefully under $100. These Nalini Birmania look like they might work. Anyone ride these? Was also looking for Performance Triflex, but it looks like they don't have them in bibs anymore. Any other recommendations? Adidas Arctic Bib Tight??

I don't have experience with those Nalinis, but I will say stay away from Adidas. That is, unless you like wearing saggy chamois. They don't fit worth a **** in the crotch.

I like my Triflex. They are really warm and great for the rain. Most effective rain proof gear I have. But, sort of thick , stiff and unless its really cold, way too warm.

I bought some Blackbottoms from a small bicycle shop that carefully selects the best vendor for the price. They keep me warm in the high 20's and would probably go to lower temps. If I needed more I would also wear my knee warmers that I have for Fall anyway.

I've been using these Prorace tights from PBK for a few weeks now and they've been good for ~50mi rides, mid 20's -

A couple of buddies bought Voler winter bib tights. The reports so far have been enthusiastic, to say the least.

hey slynkie, those Prorace bib tights from PBK look like an xlnt deal. just a quick question about their sizing. i've got a 30" waist and normally wear a medium in Pearl Izumi and also in a custom kit from Champion Systems, and i think that usually translates to a Euro size 3... but Prorace shows their size 3 to be for a 28" waist. did you find their Euro sizing to be pretty standard to other Euro mfgr's, or did you have to go up a size? since i'm only 5'4", i'm afraid going up to a Euro #4 will end up lining the knee pads up to my shins or so. what do you think?

hmm, interesting - i'm 5'11", and also wear a medium in Pearl Izumi. What's your inseam? Not sure what mine is but I wear 31x32 jeans. I went with the Euro 5 for the Prorace bibs and they fit well - my waist is 31".

I'd think you'd be ok with the Euro 4...but, I could be wrong :)

slynkie- just realized something... i wear a medium in Pearl Izumi, but that's Pearl Izumi Japan sizing, and from some other threads i've been reading, it looks like PI Japan is sized different than PI for the U.S. market. hmmmm... maybe i better ask PBK. what makes me wonder whether to go #3 or #4 is that other bib tights PBK sells show #3 for 29~30" waist. My jeans are 30x28; I'm short legged and long trunked, so medium bib shorts are just perfect from crotch to shoulders.

Just got a pair of Etxeondo Bib tights from sierratradingpost.com on sale for 88.00US. They regularly sell for well over 200.00. If there are any left and you can wear a large...get 'em! They're phenomenal. Completely windproof. So much so that I'm getting a matching jersey from Coloradocyclist.com for over 100.00 because it's worth it.

Performance triflex tights used to come in a bib, I have two pair but they discontinued the bib style last time I checked. I'm 6'2" and around 175lb in the winter, the addidas aren't the best fit but their arctic bibs have served me well in really cold weather. If you need an arctic/triflex weight tight you probably want to use multiple layers anyways so a tight fit is not that practical. Craft makes some good winter weight stuff.
