mountain snow ride!
today a friend and i did an awesome snow ride. there is a sledding route in the local mountains that is plowed frequently. it was hard-pack with about 1-4 inches of fresh powder on top. we were able to ride all the way to the top - 550m (1815ft), then had tee and lunch at the hut at the top and then rode down! it was awesome! we both crashed hard in the first corner (thank you protectors!) and then got the hang of it. i had an agressive stud tire on the front (Schwalbe Ice Spiker with 304 studs) and a regular back tire. the back tire was sliding all over the place which was actually fine as it was the best way to corner. in the curves we rode with the inner foot dragging in the snow. it was awesome and my top speed on the computer was 55km/h (35mph).
we'll be riding it again next week!
