Cold weather glove recommendations?
I've tried a few different gloves with decent success but am hoping something may work better. I use them for commuting but also for long weekend rides (centuries and longer) with temps down to and slightly below freezing.
What I've tried:
Gore BikeWear soft shell windstopper gloves with a very light fleece lining. These work decently. My hands always get clammy and cool feeling though after a few hours. I'm assuming they don't breathe enough. I add a hand warmer in to them for the really cool days.
Marmot goretex ski gloves w/ primaloft insulation - these are a lot warmer than above but also have the cold and clammy issue after a few hours because the goretex does not breathe enough. If I run into warmer conditions they are sopping wet and don't dry unless I take them off for the night.

i think for winter, i'll just use a normal skii gloves.
currently i'm using a waterproof / windproof glove from IQ very similar to the Gore gloves you have, i specially did not buy the Gore one, because it was not waterproof
since i ride a lot even when it's raining.
as you i do find that it does a decent job, but for loooong rides, it's not warm enough, but you don't freeze either.
so what i do is simply add an inner layer, like you did, that does the job for me, lets see how long that holds up
i already got a set of skii gloves ready just in case.

You're wearing the gloves for a few hours? You should probably take two pairs with you and switch off after a couple hours. Even so-called breathable gloves will get sweat-soaked and then feel cold and clammy.

I use any glove that has thermolite insulation. It seems to work down to about 15F. Below that I have a pair of Nashbar winter biking gloves which are more than a bit cumbersome.

These Windpro gloves from EMS are awesome. Just the right amount of wind resistance/breathability so your hands are cool on the bike but not cold and not sweaty.

I would get them on sale, though.
