Waterproofing Showers Pass Jacket
I've had my Showers Pass Elite for a little over a year now and it is becoming progressively less waterproof. When I got home tonight through a light rain my long shirt sleeves were quite damp.
I know the waterproofing has to be renewed every so often, but the stuff I got at Sportsman's Warehouse has done absolutely nothing that I can tell despite four treatments. I miss seeing the water bead up on the jacket. How can I get it back********************??? |
edit: see posts below
|
I have washed it a couple of times according to their directions but only after this last time have I tried anything to waterproof it.

ShowersPass.com will suggest you use ReviveX. http://www.mcnett.com/page.cfm?pageID=1305

The Nikwax wash-in stuff is pretty good.

The only waterproofing that requires renewing is DRW surface coatings. Showers pass elite doesnt have any drw coating on it so there is nothing to renew. Mines still as waterproof as it was new. Have you cleaned it? Maybe send an email to showerspass and see what they say.
I have an older Showers Pass jacket (Century) made with Event, and the included instructions say to occasional use Revive or Nikwax. I use the Nikwax and it works. I also clean it with the Nikwax cleaner and that seems to keep the waterproofness longer. I only wash mine when the breathability is affected (I get hot and sweaty too quick). I waterproof when the sleeves start to get wet. For me the sleeve part always losses the waterproof first. |
Here is a link from the product page http://www.eventfabrics.com/care_and_maintenance.php. I used the grangers g wash cleaner and the wash in waterproofing on my Columbia omni-tech jacket and it worked well.

In september, I washed the jacket with Nikwax's Techwash and dried the jacket in the drier. The result is impressive. |
