Black Wool Socks?
None of the local stores seem to carry any nice black wool medium weight crew
length socks suitable for wearing while biking in cool to cold weather.
Any suggestions?

I wear these SmartWool City slickers all winter with dress and casual shoes. They might be a little thin for what you want, but they have other thicker choices also. Look at the Smartwool Lifestyle collection https://www.smartwool.com/default.cf...eSocks/Casual/
I have bought mine in the past from Alltrec:

I've been wearing black socks made by Gold Toe for at least 15 years. They last a long time and are thus an excellent value. I wear these year round. I can wear wool or synthetic socks, and I dislike cotton socks the most. I look dorky when I wear these with sneakers or sandals but I'm quirky anyway, so it's OK.

I think they're 15% nylon which makes them durable and retains the good qualities of wool.

I bought a bunch of the Cabellas house brand black wool socks a couple of years ago. One of my better purchases. Pretty light and thin and I use them all Winter long for all but my real outdoorsy needs.
