Tires in cleveland

I am moving back to cleveland in january, and i am trying to figure out tires. when i last lived in the cleve i had some kenda kross supremes, which along with my fenders worked pretty well. Thew where kinda a pain when it was just slushy and not snowy, and they seemed to pack up with snow pretty easily. does anybody have any experience with michelin mud 2's. i think(hope) the wider spaced lugs will let it get a better grip into the hard pack that has put me on the ground a couple of times. any other suggestions?

I dream of moving back to Cleveland! I'm in Minnesota now, and I think we have the same winter conditions, just in different proportions. The tires are a matter of preference, but the two mentioned don't seem hugely different. Some people like thin tires to cut through the slop. I tried MB tires on a fixed gear and got bogged down because I couldn't plow through the snow with my gear ratio. A lot of people use fenders, but I put a plastic layer over my rack( which holds panniers), and I don't get too wet. I will ride a geared MB with studded tires this winter.

Im selecting some tyres for studding and the advice seems to be to look for well spaced studs with a radiused base. The radiusing helps prevent snow and slush from collecting.
