Alright, Boston... No excuses, if you haven't already, get out there and tear it up!

I'm glad Minneapolis doesn't look like that yet.

Shiznaz 11-13-04 09:19 AM

You stole our snow. Give it back!

hammye 11-13-04 09:46 AM

Nice one.... I thought it was going to stop last night, woke up with old man winter and his brass knuckles hitting me in the back of the head. Oh wait that might be the wee hangover.

WithNail 11-13-04 10:46 AM

I'm just not ready for this!! errr I hate you boston. Oh well I guess it's just time to break out the sled. This being boston though I could see things going one of two ways, either it gets warmer tomorrow and stays arround 50 until december or we get 6" on wed. all I know is it's a pain to get out of my house because I live at the end of a private road and they don't plow it.

jinx_removing 11-13-04 10:54 AM

I just bought a fresh set of tires for the Bianchi but it looks like it's time to bust out the snow bike.
Today's project is now overhauling the hubs on the beater and make sure she's ready to get me to work tonight.

Gotta go shovel now. Boston weather sux.

What are you talking about? Riding in snow is fun. I can't wait.

ryan_c 11-13-04 11:27 AM

I've been thinking about building up a winter/offroad bike sometime soon, now I can't wait - might have to start in on that next weekend. There's a good chance it will have a freewheel though (gasp!), at least for a little while.

sohi 11-13-04 11:59 AM

thats beautiful. I wish there was a winter in the uk.

Yeah, it's fun, and I'll ride all winter - that doesn't mean that I want it to start right now. As much time as I can buy is good.

junioroverlord 11-13-04 12:43 PM

Very beautiful from a distance, I was in Kentucky last winter for Basic Training.

Not so sure I would be so gung ho about winter biking anywhere but here. I mean I'd do it, but boy would I complain!

I'm from Toronto where we have a beautiful white christmas most years. My parents however are British and currently living in Paris. Since we no longer have a 'house' in Toronto, we have decided to spend christmas in England (Oxfordshire), so I get to enjoy another moist bonechilling christmas where you wipe the mud off your boots, not the snow.

The plus side is we are going to Switzerland for new years so I can get some sweet ass skiing and boarding on the pistes.

SSenorPedro 11-13-04 01:20 PM

Wow.

Shiznaz, do you need a congenial American sidekick? I'd be more than willing to follow you along to those destinations. What do you say?

icithecat 11-13-04 03:17 PM

What is this. A dating service?

bostontrevor 11-13-04 03:52 PM

Yeah, this is our "rain mixed with the snow Saturday morning"... Turned into 4 inches of the white stuff, and wet and heavy at that. Sadly today worked up to the 40s, so much of it is gone. I really prefer it to be nice and cold if it's going to be snowy, now it's chilly and slushy. Anyhow, I got in a bit of riding this morning. Had to help a friend move so I didn't get to go back out though. I need to get a cog for this thing and go fixed now that winter is here. In the spring I'll build up a flipflop if the wifey lets me. :)

HereNT 11-13-04 04:05 PM

bostontrevor - remember that you can use a fix/fix with a freewheel. Don't buy a wheel with a hub that has one side free, it's unneccesary. You have a lot more options with a fix/fix wheel...

Shiznaz 11-13-04 05:18 PM

yeah, I regret getting flip flops on both my wheelsets.

Now that winter is here I've finally put away my more summery bike. Right now its in the unheated shed that attaches to the ride of our house. Somehow I feel bad for it leaving it there in the cold and dark though. I could bring it up to my room but I'm on the third floor and don't have too much room for it. Plus people would think I was wierd for sleeping with my bike.

we got lots down here, come get as much as you want.

I'd mail it but with our postal service, it would evaporate before they deliver it

This will be my sixth season of winter riding here in Madison, WI.

Second season of SS/fixed. Can't wait for that first ridiculously deep day when you get the "crazy ****er" looks.

OneTinSloth 11-14-04 01:47 AM

man, if i lived in boston right now, i'd have a lot more bikes....or at least one more...a nice 5 or 6-speed roadie with fenders, DT shifters and aero levers. in addition to my two trackies and that other bike...with the derailleurs and the gears and the brakes...

OneTin- i know you were a Boston rider in the past, but why all the gears? To each his own but you couldn't pay me to ride anything other than a fixie in the winter. Especially around here since
they don't plow for ***** and the roads are always super wet.

My 2 cents.
