There is a strategy that says run studs on the ice and run wide tires in the snow. However, I think we must face facts. Most people who ride on ice also ride in snow and vice versa.
The Nokians ROCK on ice. But they are NARROW. The tips are also barely above the tread for anything you can by in the US (Peter White won't import the full freddies). I've come to the conclusion that until they make big tires, a set of homebrews will be the best. OF course, if you ride on the road, you need the carbide tips.
So whats the rule here? Factory made carbide tips for the road and big homebrews for off road .
