How to drop 20 lbs from your winter bike!

Swap out your heavy Raleigh Mojave 8.0 MB for a Kona Jack The Snake Cx bike!:lol:

Seriously though, I felt I lost too much fitness last winter using the mountain bike so yesterday I picked up a sweet 2003 Kona Jake The Snake. So I am going from a 41 pound MB to a surprisingly light 22.09 lb CX bike. The Kona appears to be in great shape and it's going to sorta be a shame exposing it to all the winter road muck.

The Kona has bosses for fenders so that is a plus. I'll mount up the fenders, rack, lights, and then source so good studded snow tires and should be good go for most days. Still wouldn't mind getting a IGH bike one day with disc brakes but the Kona was too good of a deal to pass up.

I need to modify the fenders to better protect the RD and cassette which gave me quite a few problems last year by freezing up. Am also curious to see how well the Kona's brakes work in freezing conditions. The plus of the Mojave 8.0 was the discs brakes that gave me zero issues last winter.

All and all I'm am stoked about the new bike!
