    advise on etting a good and inexpensive winter bike

    I currently ride a 2011 Trek Utopia and now that its starting to get cold i'd like to get my hands on a used mountain bike for the winter. Can anybody point me in the direction of where I could get a good used bike in NYC possibly a Trek without putting a dent in my pocket.

    Find a nice mid eighties rigid mountain bike... they will handle wider tyyres with studs and fenders which are two rather essential features of any winter bike that will see a mix of conditions including ice.

    If you do not get icy conditions the fenders are still pretty essential.

    NYC is usually pretty fast with getting the roads clear which means you won't see crazy amounts of ice but it does exist.
