Yup. I'm addicted.
You know you are addicted to winter cycling when your water bottle freezes on the way home from work and you think, "hmm, better find a thermos so that doesn't happen again," instead of the more normal response of "Jesus Christ what am I doing out in this weather??!" (Or so I am informed by my horrified family)
(For the record, I was quite warm, except for a couple of fingertips, and my snow tires performed beautifully! First snow ride of the season )

Buglady: I must be too since I just bought a coffee thermos from Star Bucks yesterday for just this reason. Fits perfect in the cage and doesn't rattle around. Will work for coffee or water and has a spill proof lid that doesn't leak even when turned upside down.
How far is your ride and how cold was it that your water froze?

FWIW, Polar water bottles also keep coffee warm. Tried it a couple of times, and it kept it too warm for my 40 minute commute. You really don't want to shoot a stream of scalding coffee at the back of your mouth when you come to a stop light.

It's a tad over 7 km (4.5 miles; not that far, which is why I was surprised!) and it was -10C or so. On my way home I have a long slow uphill grade with a few steep bits so I am not exactly speedy (~20 min of WHEEEE inbound versus 30-35 min on homeward leg - plus I am tired by then of course!).
The water wasn't frozen solid but it was decidedly slushy; the bottle was not full, about 300mL, so that's a factor too... I think 15 more minutes would have seen it solidify. Not that it's really a long enough ride to *need* water along the way, but the air here is very dry and I like to have a few sips at the red lights just so I don't feel horribly parched.
I just thought it was hilarious that I didn't really notice the cold till I went to take a sip of water and got a slushy instead!
