Black Floyd traction adequate enough for packed snow?
For those who have a Black Floyd on the front of your fat bike?
How's the winter snow traction?
Considering an instant 2lb weight loss program for my front tire by switching from Devist8r to Black Floyd. But it could be an expensive switch if it's useless in the snow so I'm asking here first.

I would say it's worthless (unsafe) in the snow. If you want an easy weight reduction, swap the tubes out for QTubes 2.4-2.7 Standards. You'll save a bunch of weight for under $12. I run a Big Fat Larry up front and I'm not that impressed with it, it needs more outer knobs, as it washes out quick. I can't imagine the Black Floyd would be any better.

Will have to give that a try. - are they difficult to inflate/seat compared to the regular tubes?
Apparently my Sheba rims have a poor ridge on the edge of the rim for the bead.

Buy the smaller tubes, install. No different than the Surly tube. Even at low pressures, I haven't had an issue. I'm currently running Rolling Darryl rims with the BFL up front and a Husker Du on the back. I'll probably put another Husker Du on the front someday, as it's been nothing short of amazing.
