Forgot to clean the chain, now have marks all over it

Hey everyone, just a small question:

Just after the temperatures rapidly got higher and the snow melted a few weeks ago me and my buddies went out for a ride. The roads were of course pretty wet, full of small rocks and probably salt as well. Needless to say, the bike was pretty messy after I got home. I cleaned it up, but of course I forgot that I could clean the chain as well.

Today while I was giving the bike a general cleaning, I discovered that the chain wasn't just dirty, but that it has marks all over it that are very difficult to clean. Is this rust? The chain (Shimano 105) is planned to being changed in a few months (as it has over 4500 km on it, but the chain meter is still saying it's ok), but I still plan to make one to two thousand km's on it.

Can these marks be cleaned off somehow and is the chain functionality somehow affected by this (can it snap)?

Yeah, I know, pretty trivial question, but a question nevertheless

Yes, of course, you are correct. Here are the two images:

Will these marks come off by themselves through normal riding and chain maintenance (I clean it every 400 km or so) or will the rust spread? will the chain functionality be unaffected (I ride my bike pretty hard, do a lot of hills and such)?

Looks like the salt has eaten away at the shiny coating. Nothing to worry about. Just keep it oiled.
