Nokian Extreme 294 -- actual width?

Hi,

Does anyone here use these tires? They're nominally 54x622, but what's their real width?

I just got Nokian W106's which are ostensibly 47x622, reckoning it's the widest knobby studded tire that'll fit in my winter bike, but it turns out they're actually 39 mm on Mavic A319 rims. That's the most egregious deceptive size marking I've ever seen, so watch out if you're looking at those.

Wait, a misleading tire size? Size varies by rim width.

x2

Where are you measuring the width, at the casing or at the widest point on the tread?

The widest point of course. But in any case: if Nokia's tire measurements are even remotely consistent across models, the 294's would be just right for my bike but they're so expensive that I can't buy them without certainty they'll fit.
