Winter tires

Looking for recommendations for a winter tire. About 80% road, 20% light trail (like crushed limestone). Not looking for anything studded, just something that has good puncture resistance and rolls decently fast. 700c

I run WTB Pathway folding bead, they roll well and the tread clears light snow nicely...pretty cheap on ebay also

Klondike studs, of course.

If you even THINK that there might be black ice under that skiff, there's nothing like carbide teeth to ease your weary mind.

And the buzzing hum isn't unpleasant.

Edit: Oh Whoops.. the OP doesn't "do" studs.
Evidently doesn't ride when it freezes.

Bikes: I never learned to ride a bike. It is my deepest shame.

I have had good luck with many different non-winter-specific 'touring' or 'hybrid' tires like Conti Top Contact in the winter... as long as there is no ice, because then you will fall. There are a few maufacturers making winter specific non-studded tires like the TopContact Winter, but I can't imagine these have a huge advantage over other non-studded tires. And they certainly cannot compare to studded tires if there is ice.

Unfortunately, it appears the smallest width is 37. What about for us road bike folks?

Schwalbe Smart Sams, not winter specific but work well for me on packed snow and some ice. If it gets really icy I'd go with the Schwalbe Marathon Winter Studded.
