Below is a private message I received back in November along with my response:

Sorry for the delayed response -- I just completed a 58-day unsupported cycle transit from New York to Los Angeles and, as a solely transportational cyclist, I think I have gotten to the point where I don't benefit much from online discussion because my cycling dilemmas are now easier to solve by direct experiment rather than trying to find the handful of people on the internet that might have tried it before.

Anyway, yes those mittens remain one of the best purchases I have ever made and, although I have recently discarded most of my clothing/gear in the process of trying to fit it all (for all seasons and activities) in a single duffle, these will definitely be kept as I find them to be the most important piece of outerware (even way more important than jackets which I rarely use). I've also made a similar item for the feet by applying iron-on seam tape to the seams of loose fitting neoprene socks...the method of taped seems popular in the UK is, IMO, paramount and the execution of outdoordesigns.co.uk is excellent.
