Yo Spiff

I rode this winter with oversized Shimano shoes that I could layer extra socks under. Now that it's almost summer and warm out, I was thinking it may be the right time to snap up a pair of winter shoes on a good sale. Seems a lot easier and convenient if they actually work as well as advertised.

I saw these on Nashbar for $125. Anyone have experience or opinions on them or similar?

I have a pair of Exustar SM450 which appear to be the predecessor model. I only used them for one winter as I found the rubber used in the soles was too slippery. They were also akward to walk.

Great shoes. (But I maybe should have gone a size up as their snug on my pinky toes!)

I've worn both the Exustar & Northwave's in tempatures from about -20C to 10C (-4F to 50F). At around 0C I'd have to switch to thick whool socks. The Exustar would start getting too warm over 5C since they don't breath very well. For the Northwave's I'd have to put on shoe covers over them if it was rainy, slushy, very cold (bellow -10C) or very windy.

Thanks. I'm a cold weather wuss, so it sounds like they should do for me down to the low 30's.

Got some Neos Overshoes they fit over street shoes , would keep the snow off the office wear.

I have Northwave winter shoes. Very satisfied customer. I have not done any extreme temps, just around 20f or so. I got a size big to fit thick socks. On one extra windy and cold day, I wore my neoprene booties over the Northwaves just in case. No cold toes yet.
