Lake Rebecca (short) Ride - minus 2 deg f with a hardpack trail

Woohoo! I got out to Lake Rebecca today and since everything is still an experiment, I consider it a success. Only went a hair over a mile (Endomondo) because it was getting late, it's cold, and I stopped too many times just to watch the Trumpeter Swans flying overhead. Clothing was a challange. Too much difference between standing freezing and moving too warm. I did more-or-less solve the fogging glasses by using a flat-ish dust mask low on my nose with the bottom swinging free. The trail was hard as a rock and bumpy and challenging for me.

The freehub wouldn't spin backward all the time and the dogs wouldn't always lock after stopping so I'll have to flush it out with something tonight. Suggestions?

I thought I would go again tomorrow but I think my solo limit is 10 deg above.

So the trail is open? Is it groomed, or rideable with normal MTB tires? Looks like fun.

Hi Loky - did you ever get out an try it?

As far as I understand the trail will be open for the winter, though not groomed. Since we haven't had a lot of show since 12/29, and it's been cold, my (wild) guess is the trail is fine. My tires were 2.1" regular trail, not snow tires, but pretty grippy rubber, and I was running about 12 lbs in them. The one steap/short hill I encountered in that very short ride I had to walk because it was pretty soft and no traction. Oh, no legs or skill either. heh
