Waterproof Jackets: Showers Pass Elite vs. Novara Stratos
My first post on the Winter Cycling forum. I'm going to buy a jacket this week. Since REI has a 30% off sale on Novara gear, I'm leaning that direction($125 after discount). I see a lot of cyclists here in the PNW wearing Showers Pass jackets(Elite 2.0 & 2.1 mostly), which run about $250. I've also read a lot of positive reviews about that jacket. Is it worth paying double what the Stratos costs(sale price)?
I'd appreciate some input from anyone that has personal experience with either of these. Thanks in advance.
Forget both of those and get the J&G jacket. Waterproof Breathable Jackets from People Who Really Know Waterproof Breathable Jackets! Made in Oregon.
I have no experience with the Novaro jacket. But I've had two Showers Pass jackets over the past seven yeqrs. They both wore out due to heavy use. During that time I had zipper issues with both jackets that left me dissapointed because they were such good jackets. I told myself when the second one wears out that I'd try the J&G jacket. It had good reviews from people here on BF. The jacket is comparable to the SP. It makes an excellent outer shell in these cold temperatures. Outstanding in downpours. And its got beefy zippers and huge pit vents. Hard to beat for the $$. I'm curious to see how long this one lasts.
