I'm moving there in June and was wondering how the riding seasons/trails are?

I don't live there, but Alaska is one of my favourite places on earth....
I'm just curious as to what kind of oportunity is allowing you to move there in june (if you don't mind my being nosy)?

The Air Force is moving me there...they really had to twist my arm on this one. I mean first Colorado Springs and then Italy for four years and now..NOW they want me to move to Alaska...those bassturds!

I'll be there at least 4 years. I've seen that site...don't know how much of a winter biker I'll become, but I like to XC ski!

Hey Dave, this is a little late, but I've lived up here in Anchorage my entire life so I figure I'll chip in.
The best (non-snow) riding is usually had between May and the end of September. If you want to do singletrack, you'll have to wait until closer to June to start (trails need to dry out before they open 'em). There's some really good mountainbiking to be had just on the edge of town in Far North Bicentennial Park, Kincaid Park, or even Powerline Pass trail just to name a few areas.
The Arctic Bicycle Club has some good information on their site too.

Cool, thanks. The Air Force shipped off my bikes last week, so they should be there on or before 30 Jun. When I can get them all depends on how soon we find a house and stuff. Sounds like there is a ton of riding. I can't wait to get up there and find some new riding buds.

Hi - sorry this is late but I'm relatively new to the forums. Anchorage is great for riding. The Coastal Trail is good for civilized riding, Kincaid Park has great moutainbiking and the ride along Turnagain Arm is one of the most beautiful I've seen. You'll love it.
