Didn't the Reynolds 501 framed 84 PGN, I think, have the expanding seatpost. It was kinda on the lower end of their middle model range and there's enough of them that come up at Ebay in varying condition and prices. I also thought that some of the 80's "Triathlon models might have the expanding seatposts.
I recall owning a mid 80's Peugeot for about 12 hours a number of years ago, think it was that PGN model you're talking about with that expander post, or was it the jamb bolt, in either case I just recall it being funky and being glad to sell it the next day.
