i raced cross without a team and never trained and placed middle of the pack. actually didn't really know how to train. Now i'm on a team and training for road next year. having coaches that know what's what and having alot of a lot of team practices helps get me into the idea of 'training' as apposed to just riding for enjoyment.
on that last part, i basically mean pushing myself rather than letting up when it gets tough.
