"Sustainable cities" are a good thing, but I imagine if an energy technology like I described is invented, it will become harder to justify utility of sustainable cities and sustainable living, as we currently imagine them.
That pretty much describes the extent of the energy policy in the United States: running on wishes. I maintain that it makes far more sense to depend on concepts that have already been established, and focus on using less energy on doing different things instead of using a different type of energy to keep doing the same thing.
