Thanks, so you have experience of using 406mm mudguards with 451mm wheels? I was kind of assuming they would not work as the curve is so much tighter, but if they do work I can source 406 ones in the UK. Unfortunately not from local shops though so cannot just go and try a set for size.
The PB fenders are relatively flexible. The Raleigh 20's used the same fenders for the 406 and the 451 wheels and those are chrome plated steel. The aesthetics may be a bit off, but at least you have fenders and stay dry.
