Shimano PD A520 pedals

I am currently using the Shimano M424 pedal. I am also using Shimano MTB shoes. I have been getting hot spots with this set up. Mostly when using my Cross Check on the road, about 30 mins into a flat ride around Long Beach.

(When I use my mountain bike with similar type pedals and the same shoes, I only get the foot irritation on extended climbs. I think that's because of the constantly changing terrain.)

For you 520 owners, would it be worth it to get the A520 pedal? It seems to have a larger platform, but I can't tell if getting this pedal will make any difference.
